# Child Book Review # Reviewed By My Kids

Book Review: Sleeping Beauty & Other Fairytales

--sorry no book cover picture--
**This being the first children's review, please note these will take on a slightly less serious tone as my children will be reviewing most of them with me.**

This cute book we picked up at the 99 cent store. It includes: Sleeping Beauty; The Six Swans; The Princess & the Pea.

I have to admit that I had forgotten the story of Sleeping Beauty. This tells it in a cute way and has some cute illustrations to go with it.

My nine year old daughter read this as well. Her favorite part of this story was when the princess was born to the king and queen who had wished for children. She says she didn't like when the evil old fairy placed a bad happening on her.

The Six Swans
How embarrassing, I've never read this nor heard of it. So this really was a completely new one on me.

In this tale, a King has six sons and but one daughter. He decides to remarry someone who hates his children and sends them away. Somehow, when the Princess returns at the age of 16...she finds that her brothers have become six swans. The story definitely has a strange twist, but a happy ending.

My nine year old daughters says that she loved the part when the brother comes home and that she didn't care much for the part when people thought she was a witch.

The Princess and the Pea
Here is another that I'd never heard of. I'm thinking this Read With Mom & Me Challenge is a great idea for, not only the kids, but for me as well.

This is a tale of a Prince looking to marry. A slightly odd story, I might add. Wait until you read the purpose of the pea.

My youngest daughter had the following to say:
Her favorite part of the book was when the Prince and the Princess were married. She says that she didn't like the part where the Princess was in the storm and was shivering from the cold.
