My Review: The first part you'll notice in this book is the dedication. The author lost her daughter, Amanda at a young age and in this wants to help other children deal with loss.
Becky's dog, Max has been hit by a car {and, of course, me being the dog fanatic, I already had tears}. The vet is unable to save him and he comes home to be buried in the backyard.
Without her best friend, Max, Becky becomes bitter, mean and anti-social. After awhile Amanda, an angel, comes to visit Becky.Amanda explains that our prayers are not always answered and that we'll lose many friends and loved ones throughout our lives -- that we must find others to love and become friends with in the absence of the ones we miss.
This is a difficult read because no one likes to lose anyone and it's such a harsh reality. However, I found it a good way to teach my children more about loss and death. This book has been added to a very special place on my children's book shelves -- the one that shows the importance of a pet as a family member.

This topic is very hard for me. I try to shelter my kids from death. When we have a friend or family member pass, they're never allowed to funerals and such. I really hadn't thought about what I'd do when our dog passes.
