Book Blurb: Never wanting to stand out, Amy was happy with her quiet and predictable life. She accepted the answers she was always given about how she ended up with her aunt and what happened to her parents. It wasn’t until waking up on her sixteenth birthday in a forest she’s never seen before that she starts to question her entire history and who she really is.
Interview with Elofin:
Interviewer: Thank you so much for taking the time to talk
with me.
Elofin: No problem, I’m always up
for talking to people about Karne and my life. I love invasive questions
Interviewer: Alright. Let’s start easy: How old are you?
Elofin: That’s an interesting
question. I’m an elf, so I don’t age like typical humans. I’ve been around for
a long time, but I’m not going to given a specific number.
Interviewer: Why not?
Elofin: Because that isn’t as
simple of a question as you would expect. I’m pretty sure it would spur even
more questions and it would answer and we are not ready for that.
Interviewer: So moving on, Where in Karne did you come from?
Elofin: Easy, the North.
Interviewer: So you mean the ever expanding forest is where
you came from?
Elofin: Yup. Lots of us come from
the North and meander into the Castle region of Karne.
Interviewer: Do you have any siblings?
Elofin: I did. My family didn’t
make it through the battle and some were lost long ago. But I’ve been fortunate
enough to have such good close friends that have felt like family over the
years.
Interviewer: Are you right or left handed?
Elofin: Depends. The majority of
the time I’m left handed, but my spear throwing is with my right hand.
Interviewer: Do you do a lot of spear throwing?
Elofin: As needed. Honestly, I
would prefer that it was only just practice, but you know how it is sometimes
Interviewer: Um… not really. I’ve never done much spear
throwing. But since you’ve been around for a while and seen lots of battles, do
you have any scars?
Elofin: I do have a few from rogue
axes or spears. Luckily, I have never been severely injured. So just some minor
marks.
Interviewer: That is lucky for you, considering elves live
so long. When and where were you the happiest?
Elofin: Honestly, the happiest I’ve
been in a long time was when I was a prisoner in the castle and saw that
Amidale Stone had come home.
Interviewer: Really? Why?
Elofin: Her return brought so much
hope for Karne even if she didn’t know it.
Interviewer:What do you consider the most important event of
your life so far?
Elofin: Nope. Next question.
Interviewer: Do you have no important events?
Elofin: Oh, I definitely do, but
I’m not ready to share that yet. I need to see how things pan out first.
Interviewer: Is that all you're going to say?
Elofin: Yup
Interviewer: So then, you probably aren’t going to tell me
your biggest secret either, are you?
Elofin: If I told you, it wouldn’t
be a secret anymore.
Interviewer: Do you have some big secrets?
Elofin: Of course I do. You don’t
get to be my age without keeping some important information to yourself.
Interviewer: Okay, then. Moving along, would you consider
yourself optimistic or pessimistic?
Elofin: Optimistic. I prefer to
think that things will work out in the end
Interviewer: Well that’s a good view to have.
Interviewer: So you’ve been around for a while, have you
started a family of your own yet?
Elofin: No, I haven’t found the
right person yet. I’ve also had other priorities in my time.
Interviewer: Okay, last question - what would you consider
your greatest weakness?
Elofin: A lethal blow.
About the Author: Karen Lowrie grew up on Cape Cod Massachusetts as the youngest of four children. She was fascinated with the woods behind her house as a child and would spend time wandering through them imagining other realities and possibilities. Currently, Karen is a special education teacher in Upstate NY where she lives with her husband, two sons and her dog.
After struggling as a reader at a young age, Karen fell in
love with reading through the Harry Potter series and has been lost in books
ever since. She continues to be a massive Harry Potter fan and looks for ways
to demonstrate her abundance of random facts she has stored away. At any given
time, she is in the middle of at least one book and still reeling from a book
she just finished, ready to talk about it.
